DFW Section Chair: Britt Flaten

Britt is a graduate of Texas A & M University and holds a Bachelors Degree in Landscape Architecture. She works as a Park Planner for Jacobs in Dallas , Her professional interests involve preparation of comprehensive parks, recreation, and open space master plans; trail mobility master plans, design of community parks and neighborhood parks, enjoys assisting municipalities with the preparation of grant applications for obtaining matching funds, and working with multidisciplinary teams through the public input process involving citizen input. Park systems are increasingly becoming a key component of a city’s livability, identity, and economic sustainability. Community leaders realize the significance of planning a park system with a balanced approach to parks, destination facilities, and recreation programs; this is where her passion lies, assisting theses communities preserve the heritage of their cities and the importance of connecting to the natural environment.

DFW Section Chair-Elect: Austin Frith

Austin is in his second year as a Landscape Architect for HNTB’s Downtown Urban Design and Planning office.  He is a graduate of Louisiana State University and is a native to the bayou region.  His professional interests include park and recreation master planning, trail master planning, and transportation-related aesthetic enhancements.  Austin’s objective as Secretary is to educate members of ongoing events as well as promote our association through professional and community outreach.  His passion lies in promoting the culture of Landscape Architecture in an effort to increase awareness as a society to better the lives of our communities.

Sharmila

Mila is an architect and landscape architect pursuing hospitality projects in the DFW area.  Her interests lie in creating leisure environments that serve distinct market segments.  Bringing together landscape architecture,interior design and architecture builds a complete environment that help the guest totally relax, renew and gain strength and energy to contribute back to their community.  She is a naturalized US citizen, born in Mumbai, India. She holds dual Masters degrees, one in Landscape Architecture from Cornell University and another in Regional and City Planning from OU - Norman.  Her Bachelor's degree in Architecture is from University of Bombay, India.  Her goals as DFW Section Treasurer are to manage the Section's finances and support her fellow officers in serving Chapter members.

James is a Senior Landscape Architect for HNTB’s Downtown Dallas Urban Design + Planning group. He is a native born Dallas Texan and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Marketing from Northwood University. His professional interests include parks and recreation planning and design projects, transportation enhancement projects and private development planning and design projects. James’ goals as the DFW Secretary will be to continue to educate and diversify the knowledge of our profession with our key client bases and to work directly with our local professionals to continue to strengthen and increase the Chapter’s membership base and participation in the community.
